Rubio India Visit LIVE: US Secy Announces Critical Minerals Framework at Quad, Departs After Four-Day Visit

Addressing a press joint statement, Rubio said, “The stage today represented countries that collectively are about a third of the world’s GDP, over almost 2 billion people, and not these aren’t just countries that have economic reach, a third of the world’s being 2 billion people, they are countries who share strong values, strong vibrant democracies, who also are committed to many of the same concepts with regards to economic development and have many aligned interests in those fields as well.”

EAM Dr S Jaishankar announced after the Quad Meeting on Tuesday, “We are today signing a bilateral India-US framework on securing supplies of mining and processing of critical minerals and rare earths. This is something we have also discussed today at the Quad meeting and whether we are doing it bilaterally, or in the Quad format or as a larger gathering of like-minded nations, it is something very timely and critical. This framework aims to deepen our cooperation across the entire critical minerals and rare earth supply chain, including mining, processing, recycling and related investment. It will strengthen resilient and diversified supply chains, help us to collaborate and financing and with the effective management of critical minerals and rare earths… It is one more sign of how close our cooperation is in a world where there are so many challenges but also so many opportunities.”

Sharing a social media post after the important Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting, US Assistant Secretary of State for Global Affairs, Dylan Johnson, praised Marco Rubio’s participation at the Delhi event.

US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, detailed the top deliverables from the latest round of Quad cooperation after Tuesday’s meeting in Delhi. 

“Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting delivers strong, concrete results. From enhanced maritime security to new initiatives on maritime security, port infrastructure, critical minerals, and energy resilience,’ he wrote on X.

“Our wide-ranging discussions focused on advancing peace, stability, security, and prosperity across the Indo-Pacific. The Quad remains a vital force for good and will continue to deliver new initiatives addressing the region’s most pressing challenges,” US Envoy Sergio Gor wrote on X.

In a post on X, the Iranian mission criticised Rubio’s visit to the 17th-century monument and suggested that the US Secretary of State lacked awareness of the Taj Mahal’s historical and architectural roots. “If Rubio knew the history or architecture, he wouldn’t have posed for a picture here,” the consulate wrote.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs' schedule, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to return to New Delhi from Jaipur at 6:50 am today. 

His morning agenda at Hyderabad House begins with a ‘Family Photo’ session, followed by the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting at 9 am. After delivering press statements at 9:50 am, he is scheduled to depart India at 11 am.

The Indian Government has since confirmed that External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar will host foreign ministers of Australia (Penny Wong) and Japan (Toshimitsu Motegi) alongside the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, during their official visit to Delhi.

Far-right commentator and Trump ally Laura Loomer, who came to India in March, couldn’t help but reminisce her own trip after seeing Marco Rubio’s photos from India.

External Affairs before his arrival, the US State Secretary is expected to return from Jaipur to New Delhi at around 6:50 am. He will then participate in a ‘Family Photo’ event at the Hyderabad House, where the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will also be held at about 9 am.

With press statements estimated to take place at 9:50 am, Rubio will eventually depart from India at 11 am.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the historic Amber Fort in Jaipur on Monday, along with his wife, Jeanette D. Rubio, as part of his ongoing India tour. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor was also present during the visit.

Marco Rubio arrived in Jaipur on Monday during his visit to India. He is scheduled to visit the Amber Fort as part of his itinerary.

Marco Rubio and his wife, Jeanette, visited the Taj Mahal on Monday. Before that, US Vice President JD Vance, his wife Usha Vance and their children Vivek, Mirabel and Ewan also visited one of the seven wonders of the world in Agra last year.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to tour two of most iconic historic landmarks today as part of his official itinerary. According to the State Department schedule, Secretary Rubio will begin his day in Agra with a morning tour of the Taj Mahal at 10:00 AM, an event designated for closed press coverage. Later in the afternoon, the Secretary will travel to Rajasthan to tour the historic Amber Fort in Jaipur at 2:45 PM.

Donald Trump expressed strong admiration for India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a live interaction at the 250th US Independence Day celebration held at the US Embassy in the national capital, calling the Indian leader a "friend" and reaffirming close bilateral ties.

Speaking during the interaction, Trump said, "I love India. You (Ambassador Gor) have to make a good speech as a representative of our country. I just want to say hello to everybody. I love the Prime Minister. PM Modi is great; he is my friend."

"PM Modi has reportedly received an invitation to visit the White House. When Secretary Marco Rubio called on Prime Minister Modi yesterday, he mentioned conveying an invitation from President Trump. However, that invitation has not come in the form of a formal letter or a specific direct invitation. We do not know the exact status yet. There is the possibility they may meet on the sidelines of the G7 next month, or perhaps at the end of the year when President Trump hosts the G20 summit at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. This is currently in the realm of speculation," she said.
